Working with AR Studio

Creating your tour in the app

AR Studio allows you to place and configure AR content in the real world.

How to anchor content to a location

Content is anchored to a location by creation a fingerprint of the environment. This is done digitally and does not require alterations to the environment.

  • When viewers open a spot, the app will find the same fingerprint and place the content in the same location.
  • Placing media files in the real world uses gestures optimized for phones and tablets. Some of these can be seen in the following video.
  • AR content can be repositioned, rotated, and scaled in the AR Studio.

How many things should I place in a spot?

We recommend to keep the number of objects in a spot below 20. However this is not a hard limit and dependent on factors such as the complexity of the objects and the device used to view the tour. On top of this, the creator should also keep in consideration the access to WiFi and mobile data.

How can I preview my tour?

The best way of previewing your tour is by going to the home screen of the app and making sure you are on "Explore". Then you can open the tour as a visitor. Or if you only want to preview the spot you are currently editing, you can also use the toggle in the top right.

How do shadows work in AR?

Shadows are automatically calculated based on an estimation of the light in the environment. These shadows are then projected on the ground and any other surfaces above it. The look of the shadows can change a bit depending on the device used.

How can I start animating objects?

Animation of objects can currently be done using stored animations inside of 3D models. These animations can be include in 3D software like Blender. Some 3D assets that can be bought online contain animation loops.

How can I add text?

Text can be added via the studio in the app.

Can I edit my spots from a different location?

If you want to edit without having to be at the location, you can now open the spot without scanning. This is very simple to do. Just open the spot like you would do normally. At the bottom of the screen, you will find a button to skip the scanning phase. Afterwards you just need to detect a floor to place the spot.

Can I build tours together with others?

Collaboration is an advanced feature which can be unlocked with a subscription. Read more here.

Troubleshooting

Why does my AR content move slightly?

Small shifts can occur due to limitations in phone sensors and environmental tracking conditions such as lighting or surface detail.
