Working with Video
Tips and tricks to get the most out of your videos
Incorporating video in your tour is a great way to tell engaging stories.
What video formats to use?
We support all major video format types. This is because we transcode all files into a format that should be supported by all phones.
What video formats to use for video pages?
Most video pages will be viewed on a phone screen vertically. Ideally your video will match this aspect ratio (around 9×16 or taller). We will automatically zoom to fit the video correctly.
What frame rate should I use in my videos?
Unless you have really fast moving imagery in your videos, it is best to use 24 fps or 30 fps. This reduces the download size while maintaining a smooth experience.
How to remove the background from my videos?
If you already have a green screen, film in front of that and remove the background using the tools in the app or on our website.
- If you do not have a green screen, you can use the automatic green screen removal tool after uploading. Results are less accurate than with a real green screen.
- If the subject wears green clothing use a blue background instead. The chromakey color can be adjusted in the web manager or app.
How to make the videos play automatically
When adding a video file to a spot, you can set the autoplay option in the appearance menu. This will make sure that the media starts playing as soon as the spot is opened. Additionally, you might want the video to loop, so that the playback never ends.
Creating portals
How should I orient my videos or photos to create portals?
When someone opens a portal, they will see the center of the image or video on the opposite side of the door frame.
What is the recommended resolution for a portal?
The maximum recommended resolution is 4096×2048. We recommended to use this value in most cases to ensure the best quality.
Why can I only add one portal?
Some phones have limited video decoding capabilities, so only one portal is supported to ensure compatibility.
How can I create a virtual guide or hologram?
Record a person in front of a well-lit green screen and remove the background using the app or web manager. Optimal video is shot vertical at 1080p. This captures sufficient details for a nice result on phones.
If it is not possible to use a green screen, the web manager has additional options to edit the background settings. One of these options is to let an AI replace the background of any video with a simulated green screen. For this to work optimally, a background with a different background color is still needed. After requesting a background removal the result will appear after 5 to 15 minutes.
Troubleshooting
Why do videos created on iPhone look washed out?
Some iPhones use HDR video, which Wintor does not currently support. Turn off HDR in camera settings: Settings > Camera > Record Video > HDR Video (off).
